Teacher Policies
SUPPLIES
Please be sure that your child’s name is clearly marked on all belongings: school supplies, gym clothes, swim suits, gym and swim bags, sweatshirts, lunch boxes, backpacks, uniform clothes shoes, snow pants, etc.
Periodically check that your child has all needed supplies such as pencils, glue, crayons, markers, erasers and scissors.
Water bottle may be brought to school on days when it is extremely hot.
HOMEWORK
Each night (except weekends) your child is expected to be involved in some form of homework. At times this will mean assigned worksheets, which will need to be completed and signed and returned to school the next day.
However, many times it will involve work that is not specifically assigned – such as spelling words, math facts and reading aloud to members of the family.
All this will help to re-enforce the lessons that your child has been introduced to at school.
Please check your child’s notebook on a daily basis. Assignments should be written in the assignment book each day. Please use some form of check-off system to indicate that your child has completed and you have corrected his/her homework.
Please sign and correct each homework assignment.
Please sign your child’ assignment notebook. In 2nd grade students are not expected to do their homework alone
ABSENTEE
If your child is absent, please arrange for someone in the class or a sibling to pick up his/her homework each and every day that they are absent.
When your child returns to school, please provide them with a note for his/her teacher even if you have previously called the office.
School days missed due to additional or extended vacations are not advised.
Many of the lessons that your child will miss are not on a worksheet that can be sent home.
However, if you are planning a trip and your child will miss a school day, please notify the teacher as soon as possible so the teacher can supply your child with some of the assignments that she/he will miss.
