St. Petronille School supports the use of technology in the instructional program through classroom computers, lab networks, school-wide networks, school owned hand held devices, and there are Smartboards and Internet in each classroom as a means to facilitate learning and teaching.

Students are expected to act in a responsible, ethical and moral manner, and use the accepted rules of network etiquette.  The rules in the computer lab classroom are very simple and clear-cut.  No student is allowed to say “I Can’t”; an “I can’t” situation or comment is a new opportunity for growth.  The second rule; be creative!  All students, no matter what their computer level will be successful, will learn new skills, enhance old ones, become proficient on the computer with hardware and software, and learn to “Think Outside The Box”.

Computer Lab Curriculum

The curriculum has changed this year.  I am so happy to announce that and all students in grades 2-8 will have instruction in the computer lab at least once per week.

Some of the programs used by the students during the school year are:

Windows 7 OS

Microsoft Office 2010 (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access and Publisher)

HyperStudio 5

Kid Pix

Inspiration

Keyboarding

Additional items will be forthcoming, please check Edline for current classroom projects
