Keith Matune brings a unique blend of professional experience to St. Petronille. He began his career working as a Capitol Hill staffer, legal assistant and director of marketing, prior to his calling and passion to become a teacher. Mr. Matune has taught middle and high school social studies for over 17 years and was recognized as Illinois Law Teacher of the Year in 2012 by the Constitutional Rights Foundation of Chicago.

Mr. Matune was born and raised in the Joliet Diocese, having attended St. Joan of Arc (Lisle) and Downers Grove North. He earned his B.A. in Political Science from Purdue University, where he was a two-time national champion and consensus All-American in gymnastics and captained the Boilermakers to a runner-up national championship team finish. He later earned his M.S. in Education from Purdue and an M.A. in Secondary Administration from North Central College. However, Keith’s greatest accomplishment at Purdue was meeting and falling in love with his future wife Dawn.

Mr. and Mrs. Matune are raising their four children in Downers Grove, where they are active members of St. Mary of Gostyn Parish. The Matune family is active in scouting, community service, soccer, gymnastics, orchestra and visiting as many places of historical interest as possible during their travels.

Mr. Matune is grateful to be a member of the St. Pet’s family and looks forward to an eventful school year together through our journey in Christ. Students can expect to develop an exciting personal connection with learning through the Catholic faith, while striving to acquire per orationis gratia (grace through prayer).
