About the LIFE Fund
St. Petronille Parish School was founded upon a strong belief in the value of Catholic Education and believes no child should be denied that education for financial reasons. It is this shared belief that led to the origination of the Lifetime Investment in Faith and Education (LIFE) Fund over 30 years ago, when 100 parishioners generously donated $100 for tuition assistance called “The 100 Club”. Three years later, that idea was formalized via an endowment fund called the LIFE Fund and has continued to support school families in need.
In the past 14 years, the LIFE Fund has provided over $400,000 in tuition assistance to St. Petronille families, supporting 179 students and 111 families in need. This school year (2020-2021), donations are providing almost $63,000 in tuition assistance to 11 families, enabling 24 students to attend or remain at St. Petronille School. Please read the quote from one of this year’s recipients, describing what your support means for our school families.
“My family and I are so incredibly grateful to those who have donated to the LIFE Fund. After being a part of the St. Petronille School community for several years, my family experienced a severe unforeseen financial hardship. Without financial assistance to help cover the cost of tuition, I would have been forced to pull my children from the school—and community—that they love. Thank you so very much for your support of St. Petronille and the amazing Catholic education that it provides every day to our children.”
St. Petronille is only one of two schools in our diocese that supports their fellow school families through a special fund. Please consider a donation to LIFE today. You can donate to the LIFE Fund online or contact Diane Makowski in the Parish office at (630) 469-0404 x2103 or email@example.com.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the LIFE Appeal?
LIFE, which stands for Lifetime Investment in Faith and Education, is a Trust that was established in 1986 to “provide financial assistance to St. Petronille Parish School for its general educational purposes.” Donations to LIFE are used to provide tuition assistance to students of St Petronille School so that no family will be denied a Catholic education due to unforeseen financial difficulties.
Do all diocese schools have a LIFE Appeal?
No. St. Petronille is one of only two schools in our diocese who support fellow school families through a special fund.
How many families benefit from LIFE Funds?
Tuition assistance varies per year, but the number of families applying has increased in recent years. In the past 15 years, the LIFE Fund has provided over $500,000 in tuition assistance to St. Petronille families, supporting 179 students and 111 families in need. This school year, LIFE will provide almost $63,000 in tuition assistance to 11 families, enabling 24 students to attend or remain at St. Petronille.
Who donates to LIFE?
Parishioners, school families, alumni, past parents, friends of St. Petronille, and company matching donations have all contributed to the fund. LIFE donations are tax deductible in most cases.
How are funds used?
All funds donated to LIFE are used for tuition assistance. However, when the amount of money raised in a given year exceeds the near-term need for tuition assistance, those contributions are invested in an endowed fund. The principal (or original contribution value) of the fund remains intact. Per the stipulation of the Trust, only investment income earned may be withdrawn each year and used by the school for tuition assistance or general education purposes.
What is the LIFE Endowment Fund?
Any donations to LIFE that are not needed for near-term tuition assistance are contributed to the LIFE Endowment Fund, a portfolio of equity and fixed income investments governed by the LIFE Trust Agreement. A “LIFE Investment Committee,” made up of school parents and parishioners with expertise in the investment field, oversees the fund’s investments. The LIFE Investment Committee makes investment recommendations, which are approved by our Pastor, Fr. Milota (the “Trustee”) and the St. Petronille School Board.
Are there other ways to contribute?
